Build a kit
The building blocks
A MeshCore kit is a handful of simple parts. Andy is testing equipment combinations and preparing practical setup notes. A tested parts list will be added as those checks are completed.
Compatible radio device
The radio is the heart of the kit. Andy has worked with RAK WisBlock hardware and WisMesh Pocket devices. Not every model or combination is compatible.
Antenna and connector
A good antenna improves range more than almost anything else. Match the antenna to your device's connector and frequency. Placement high up with clear line of sight makes the biggest difference.
Power supply or battery
A node can run from a wall power supply or a battery. For a portable or repeater setup, battery capacity matters. Plan for steady power and, for remote spots, a way to recharge.
Cables
Use the right cables and keep them as short as practical. Cable quality and length affect signal loss.
Enclosure and mounting
For a permanent or outdoor node, an enclosure protects the radio from weather. Mount it where the antenna has the best view of where you want the signal to go.
